Very nice pictures! I could stare at them for hours! I have a question about the Bonhoeffer quote you have here on your blog. Given that the times are different than when the quote was first made, also allowing for the fact that some quotes are timeless, do we assume that he means being a menmber of the "ekklesia" and not something akin to a club? and if so, do you think that a non-believer/non-church goer/possibly can't stand to be around Christians because they are to hypocritical, person can appreciate the difference, if they even realize it at all?

Hey Fargo. The quotes I place on the blog are meant to draw just this kind of conversation. I don't always agree with every quote, but I do happen to agree with this one. I think your observations are correct, in a sense. Bonhoeffer seems to me to be getting at the community aspect of Christianity, even, that Christians are Christians when they are a part of the "ekklesia". To become a follower of Jesus is to become a part of the community of all believers. You are right to say that for many this has replaced by a "social club" setting rather than the transformed community of Christ. Sadly, we have displayed to non-believers the wrong picture of what following Christ is all about. What if the community of Christ truly lived as a community? What if the love of Christ was seen among us by the world around us? Good thoughts Fargo.
